Dr Laura Richmond

Expert by experience.

Laura was admitted to Winchester’s mother and baby unit after the traumatic birth of her son in 2014. She has worked in a variety of part-time and freelance roles promoting maternal mental health, including as senior research and involvement officer at Bliss, the neonatal charity; perinatal peer support facilitator at Mind; and lived experience research consultant, developing a virtual reality treatment for depression at University College London. She also continues to publish research in medieval history after completing her PhD in 2017. Her memoir of motherhood and mental health, All My Worldly Joy, is forthcoming with Unbound.
